Steel & Metal Production

• Oxygen is used in blast furnaces and basic oxygen furnaces (BOFs) to refine iron into steel, Enhancing burning efficiency in electric arc furnaces (EAFs), reducing carbon content in metals.

• Oxygen enrichment in cement and asphalt kilns boosts combustion efficiency, reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

Glass Manufacturing

• To ensure high-quality, defect-free glass production. During manufacturing, molten glass is floated on a bath of molten tin, but exposure to oxygen can cause tin oxidation, leading to surface imperfections. To prevent this, a controlled hydrogen-nitrogen atmosphere is introduced into the tin bath. Hydrogen removes residual oxygen, preventing tin oxide formation and ensuring a smooth, optically clear glass surface. This process enhances glass quality, improves energy efficiency, and reduces production defects, making hydrogen essential for modern float glass production.

• Argon-filled double-pane and triple-pane windows enhance thermal insulation and reduce energy loss in buildings.
